Located at the western most point of Mongolia, this park on the border of both Russia and China has views of Kazakhstan from the highest peak of Tavan Bogd Mountains (“Five Sacred” in Mongolian). The mountains are considered sacred to local Tuvans and Kazakhs. In the shadows of the Tavan Bogd are the Potanin Glacier (covering 23 square kilometers) and several large lakes, many archeological sites, which display the rock paintings of the Mongolian Altai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 1. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Day 2. Khovd

Day 3-7. Trekking to Tsambagarav.

Day 8-10. Buurgiin lake and Doroo.

Day 11. Sutai Mountain.  

Day 12. Khashaat valley

Day 13-14. Tsambagarav.

Day 15.  Khovd

Day 16.  Ulaanbaatar

Day 17. Departure.

Day 1. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to hotel.  Explore the city by visiting Gandan monastery and winter palace of Bogd Khan, who was the last king of Mongolia. In the afternoon we will visit museum of National History. Briefing about trekking, flights and local information. Overnight and relax in the hotel.

Day 2. Khovd. After breakfast we will catch early morning flight to Khovd. We will drive to the direction of Burgas Tsagaan valley, where you will spend your first night in the tent. This is the starting point of your discovery of this magnificent snowy mountain. We will meet with the local team, driver and the local guides. Overnight at the tent.

Day 3-7. Trekking to Tsambagarav. We will load our baggages on the back of horse and camel and start our trekking to Sairiin Ekh and Salbangiin Belchir. Approximately, we will trek 5-6 hours of trekking everyday. Our final point is to reach the summit of the mountain Tsambagarav. We will pass by the Nogoon Lake, Urt Bulag River and visit a kazakh family. Scenery and wildlife is breathtaking and we will have an opportunity to observe the wildlife camp. Overnight at the tent.

Day 8-10. Buurgiin lake and Doroo. After breakfast we will continue our trekking to the Buurgiin lake and Doroo and Serven hill. This place is attractive because of its impressive high mountains of Altai. Overnight in the tent.

Day 11. Sutai Mountain.   We will arrive on an elevated plateau which has a beautiful view of three snowy mountains Sutai Khairkhan, Maraa Khaikhan and Tsambagarav(4202m). After that we will descend back and continue our jeep tour to Tsagaan Sair. Overnight at the tent.

Day 12. Khashaat valley. We will march to the valley of Khashaatiin. After lunch we will continue our trek to Urgun Shireg, where herders of Uuld ethnic people live. We will meet them and visit to their gers to have conversation about their lives and taste their milk products. We will experience unforgettable moment of bridging of two different cultures. Overnight in the tent near the family.

Day 13-14. Tsambagarav. We will cross the Khamar River and reach the right slope of the mountain Tsambagarav. The following day, we will reach the summit of the sacred mountain Tsambagarav, which means "Old White Man" in Tibetan. The summit finds itself on the border of Khovd and Bayan-Ulgii provinces. It is an extraordinary experience to see the two different way of living, that of Kazakhs and Mongolians. There we will have final debriefing about our trekking. Overnight at the tent.

Day 15.  Khovd. We will drive back to Khovd city, a provincial capital of Khovd province via village Erdeneburen . Explore the city and overnight at the local hotel.

Day 16.  Ulaanbaatar. We will farewell to our local team and catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar. Free day for personal activity. Traditional performance of folk dances and songs in the evening. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 17. Departure. Breakfast at the hotel. Our western Mongolia trekking ends here by transferring to the airport.
