SOUTHERN MONGOLIA

YOLL VALLEY – The Yoll valley is located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (Three Beuties of the Gobi) National Park. The valley is the exotic narrow canyon and rock walls stand 200m, which has green meadows with glacier. There are lots of trekking and camel riding opportunities and Argali wild sheep could be seen early in the morning.

KHONGOR SAND DUNES –  Khongoriin Els dunes stretch for  180 kms, sometimes as wide as 7-20km. The dunes lie on the northern part of beautiful mountain ranges of Servei and Zuulun. The sound of masses of sand dunes can be heard from the long distance. The sound is melodic, therefore 200m sand dunes called as “Singing Dunes”. There is an oasis called Khongor river with stunning green meadows in the summer.

BAYANZAG – The face of the Gobi  Bayanzag was formed 60-70 million years ago, famous as Flamming Cliffs named by Roy Andrew Chapman, an American explorer who visited Mongolia in 1920s. The flamming Bayanzag cliffs have dinosaur fossils, eggs and bones all over the place and neighbored by bushy Saxual tree forests.

RUINS OF ONGI MONASTERY – The ruins of Ongiin Khiid Monastery is the symbolic place in the southern Mongolia. The monastery was built in the 18th century and was the main religious centre in the area. The monks were practiced Buddhist philosophy, astrology and medicine.  Sadly, the monastery was destroyed by the communists in the 1930s and high ranked monks were killed.

BAGA GAZARIIN CHULUU – of land to the Baga Gazriin Chuluu. This 1750m high basalt and granite rock formation is beautifully located in the middle of nowhere. This rock mountain contains ruins of Buddhist meditation temple that belonged to the 17th century. We enjoy some scenic photo opportunities and continue drive to the Sum Huh Burd, a tiny lovely island with ruins of ancient temple and loads of birds.

TSAGAAN SUVARGA – Tsagaan Suvarga is a formation of rocky cliffs that are composed of different ores that when exposed to oxygen turn different colors. There are pinks, reds, oranges in the rocks, and in the springtime when the grass is green and the flowers are blooming, it looks like a rainbow on the land.
