Fishing in Mongolia is one of the best adventures for fisherman. Mongolia has the world's largest Taimen, also known to the Mongolians as „River Wolf". Taimen (Hucho hucho taimen) are the world’s largest salmonid. In Mongolia, these top-tier predators will live for more than fifty years and reach lengths of over sixty inches. They once inhabited healthy rivers from Europe but taimen became isolated and rare as over-harvest and river degradation slowly devastated populations.

Shishged’s right tributary, Tengis, is known to be the world’s best Taimen River. Shishged and Tengis rivers are rich in fish species with Arctic Grayling (Thymallus Arcticus) and up to 70cm long Mongolian Grayling (Thymallus Brevirostris). Mongolian Lenok (Brachymystax Lenok) otherwise known as Asiatic Trout or Manchurian Trout, is a salmonid fish inhabiting Siberian, Korean and North China waters. Lenok can reach 70 cm length and weight up to 6 kg. And finally, the largest salmonid predator inhabiting Mongolian river Shishged and Tengis - Taimen (Hucho Taimen) reaching up to 2 m of length and 70 kg weight that can live as long as 50 years. August and September is the time that Taimen starts to prey more intensely in preparation for the long and heavy winter. With its enormous strength Taimen aggressively attacks anything that it can contain in its enormous snout - from Graylings and bigger species of fish to rodents and water birds. An imitation of large rodent, confidently run on the surface of water current will be one of the most efficient baits. Known to the Mongols as River Wolf, Taimen is a remarkably strong fish and fighting it with a quality fishing equipment is an experience you cannot forget or compare to anything else.
